Citizen Volunteers, a grassroots organization, is hosting a public meeting that will give St. Catharines voters a chance to meet the candidates running for regional council.
The group says they organized the event after some residents expressed concerns about the lack of information available about the 23 candidates running for a seat around the regional council table.
Organizor Desmond Sequiera notes, "Our vote will define the integrity and efficiency of Niagara Regional Council, the NPCA and local municipal councils."
On the night of October 11th , each candidate will be given 2 minutes to outline their platform.
Following the speeches, each candidate will be asked to answer a question drawn from a hat.
Questions can be emailed to October11event@gmail.com.
The meeting gets underway at 7 pm at the Unitarian Congregation of Niagara on Church Street.
So far, the following candidates have agreed to participate in the event: Haley Bateman, Laura Ip, Frank Rupcic, Emily Beth Spanton, Len Stack, Mary Margaret Murphy, Rob Depetris, Mark Eliott, Kelly Edgar, Bruce Timms, Debbie MacGregor, Brian Heit and Tim Rigby.
