The public will have a chance to see what the region has in store for Glendale Avenue in St.Catharines.
A meeting will be held tonight (Wednesday Feb 15th) from 6-8pm at Niagara Regional Headquarters in Thorold.
Construction plans will be on display for Regional Road 89 (Glendale Avenue) From Burleigh Hill Drive to Tremont Drive.
The work is scheduled to start in the spring.
Some of the proposed improvements in the area include lengthening vehicle storage lanes, the addition of auxiliary turning lanes, the implementation of a median island, replacement of existing cast iron watermains, replacement and addition of sidewalk, traffic signal upgrades and timing, and roadway illumination upgrades.
In order to reduce traffic congestion and potential impacts on businesses in the area, it is anticipated that the majority of construction on Glendale Avenue will occur during night time hours.
Tonight's meeting will be a “drop-in style” forum with staff members from the Niagara Region and Associated Engineering Ltd. (the Region’s engineering consultant) on hand to answer questions and discuss the project.
