Today's memorial service to mark one year since the Humboldt Broncos bus crash will be led by the team's pastor.
It will include a moment of silence at 4:50 p.m. -- the exact time a semi blew through a stop sign and plowed into the bus, killing 16 people aboard and injuring 13 others.
The service will be held at the Elgar Petersen Arena, where yellow banners with the names of all 29 people on the bus hang above the main entrance.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued a statement to mark the first anniversary of the crash.
Trudeau says in the face of irreparable loss and injury, Humboldt showed Canadians what resilience and community mean.
He says his government is working to develop standards for entry-level training for truck drivers and to make seatbelts mandatory on new highway buses by September of next year.
