It would seem if it's not nailed down someone will steal it.
Hamilton city officials trying to keep up with theives who have been stealing sections of the aluminum handrail on the pedestrian bridge over the QEW.
So far 17, of the two metre rails, have gone missing, creating dangerous gaps along the bridge.
The problem is, as fast as the city replaces them, metal thieves just steal more.
At one time thieves made off with the copper wire along the span, until the city replaced the wire for cheaper aluminum.
Now it's the sections of handrail.
The city plans to weld bolts underneath new and existing ones to try and discourage the thieves.
