We have some good news for people eagerly hoping for some warmer weather for the long weekend: summer is on the way.
Niagara has been experiencing some fairly mild temperatures through most of June.
The Weather Network's Doug Gillham says there are a lot of reasons for the cooler temperatures, "There's a lot of blocking in the jet stream pattern in the Arctic and that's related to a weak el Nino, warm sea surface temperatures in the North Pacific.
But he says we do have something to look forward to.
"As we go to next week we think we're going to have a few days, I know we want more than a few days, but it looks like it will start to feel more like summer for a few days next week as we head towards the long weekend."
Gillham cautions this summer won't be as warm as last year.
