The Migrant Workers Alliance for Change is set to release a report today outlining what they call abuses faced by migrant farmworkers stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
They say workers have been faced with stolen wages during quarantine, forced to work while awaiting COVID-19 test results, racist threats, decrepit housing and inhumane treatment.
The Alliances Kit Andres says workers are angry at government inaction after decades of warnings about their working conditions.
Andres says the federal and provincial governments ignored their concerns.
The report includes a comprehensive set of recommendations made by migrant workers, including permanent resident status for all.
