Mohawk College and nine Ontario school boards, from Niagara Falls to Brantford and Halton Hills have inked an historic agreement to teach students first hand how to reduce the carbon footprint in their schools.
The college says the program, called Climate Change Leaders, will give young people a more active role in reducing carbon emissions at schools and help move Canada closer to meeting its obligation in the Paris Climate Accord.
Mohawk officials add the partnership will also offer new pathways for students toward co-op placements, apprenticeships and new jobs in a low carbon, circular economy.
Niagara's public, Catholic and French Catholic boards have all signed on.
