More local councils are joining the call for a closer look at the books at the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.

Wainfleet Mayor April Jeffs, who is a member of the NPCA board of directors, put forward a motion asking the conservation authority to hire an independent third party to conduct an audit, such as a value for money audit or forensic audit above and beyond their normal financial audits.

Her council passed the motion.

Last week, St. Catharines city council passed a motion to send a letter to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Ministry of Natural Resources to begin an investigation and forensic audit of the NPCA.

The City of Niagara Falls has a communication on their council agenda for tomorrow night requesting support for the St. Catharines motion on the NPCA.

Councillor Carolyn Ioannoni telling CKTB news she intends to put forward a motion to support that request.

Welland NDP MPP Cindy Forster has also called for a probe of the NPCA.
