More calls for the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to accept the Auditor General's offer to conduct a free and comprehensive audit on the organization.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union has now added their voice to the cause.
In a news release OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas says the request for proposal the NPCA has issued falls short of what is needed.
“In my opinion, what the NPCA needs is a full forensic financial audit by a truly independent third party, not a few pages typed up by a bought-and-paid-for consultant who reports to senior management.”
OPSEU joins the municipalities of St. Catharines and Niagara Falls who both endorsed motions of council urging the NPCA board to do everything required in order to ensure they accept the Auditor General's offer to perform an independent third party operational review/audit.
St. Catharines MPP Jim Bradley, Welland Riding MPP Cindy Forster, Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates and Hamilton East-Stoney Creek MPP Paul Miller have also urged the NPCA to withdraw its request for proposals (RFP) and accept the auditor's offer.
The NPCA have an active RFP out, which closes April 9th, and was approved by the NPCA Board.
NPCA Board Chair Sandy Annunziata has previously stated there is a second stage of the process that the Auditor General could be considered for.
