The Niagara Sexual Assault Centre is hoping it will be on the receiving end of more provincial funding.
The province's Attorney General announcing a one time funding boost of one million dollars to be spread out among the 42 rape crisis centres in Ontario.
The Niagara centre's administrative co-ordinator Lisa Berketo tells the Review, right now they have a wait list of about 200 victims and they need at least five more counsellors to clear the backlog.
Berketo says at the very least, a 30 thousand dollar boost would allow them to hire a part time counsellor.
The previous Liberal government had promised to increase funding by nearly 8 million dollars over two years.
