A truck driver from Kitchener is facing charges after Canada Border Service Agency officers seized $1.01 million of undeclared loose leaf tobacco at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie.
The tractor trailer was pulled over for secondary inspection at the border on March 16th.
Inside, officers say they found 102 boxes of tobacco weighing more than 10,000 kg.
Robert Wilhelm Gunther is facing several charges under the Customs Act including evasion of compliance, attempt to smuggle, and unlawful possession of unstamped tobacco products.
