The vast majority of Ontarios Grade 10 students passed the provinces standardized literacy test this year.

The vast majority of Ontario's Grade 10 students passed the province's standardized literacy test this year.

The Education Quality and Accountability Office says 81 per cent of eligible students who wrote the test were successful.

That rate has been more or less the same _ between 81 and 83 per cent _ for the past five years.

However, of the students enrolled in the applied course, 44 per cent were successful, which is a decline of seven percentage points over five years.

An online trial of the test in October was hit by a cyberattack and the EQAO was forced to cancel it, and instead administered it using pencil and paper in March.

The EQAO says it used quality-assurance measures to ensure the cyberattack didn't affect the reliability of the results.
