It may soon become illegal for employers to force women to wear high heels at work.
A private member's bill will be introduced today at Queen's Park that would change the Occupational Health and Safety Act to protect workers from being required to wear unsafe footwear as part of a company's dress code.
Last year the Ontario Human Rights Commission looked at gender specific dress codes and recommended women who work in bars and restaurants should not be forced to wear high heels, short skirts or low cut tops.
