Liberal Members of Parliament, from Niagara to Oakville are banding together to form the Golden Horseshoe Caucus.
The group says the move is designed to create a strong unified voice for the region.
In a media release, Caucus Chair and the MP for Oakville North-Burlington Pam Damoff points out " The region is Ontario’s second largest economic engine, representing a diverse multitude of industries, including everything from steel and automotive production to world-renowned food and wine, biotech, aerospace and tourism industries."
Dadoff notes it is imperative we have a strong collective voice to ensure the best interests in the region and in Ottawa.
Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey says “Located adjacent to the Canada-United States border, the Golden Horseshoe has become an economic cluster, supporting economic diversity and promoting increased opportunities for cross border trade, movement of goods and tourism. We look forward to working together to enhance our strengths, in turn, improving our overall international trade performance."
St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle adding “I am pleased to be working with my counterparts throughout the Golden Horseshoe to advocate for our shared priorities. From Niagara to Oakville, we are stronger when we speak together for our collective communities and bring forward these shared concerns as one voice. I look forward to our continued collaboration and to ensuring that Southern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe and the people of Niagara have their voices heard and always receive their fair share.”
