You may have noticed a big hole in the ceiling of the Thorold tunnel.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation Astrid Poei tells CKTB drivers should not be alarmed and it is not a safety issue.
The St.Catharines-bound lane of the tunnel was closed on August 4th after a flat bed truck carrying an excavator scraped the top and side of the tunnel.
The driver was charged and the tunnel was closed for 8 days while crews made repairs.
Now that the tunnel is back open to traffic some drivers are noticing a hole in the ceiling.
Poei says they will be repairing the hole over the next few years.
Repair work was already scheduled and the ceiling work will be included at that time.
