A Grimsby mother who lost her 22 year old son is speaking out and sharing her painful story.
Angela Case's son Jordan died at the Niagara Detention Centre in Thorold on December 1st, 2018.
Case says Jordan had fentanyl and cocaine in his system, even though he was in segregation at the jail 23 hours out of the day.
She is waiting on a final toxicology report and an inquest into her son's death.
Case says the day Jordan died he was set to be transferred to a Sarnia jail where he would be able to be in the general population portion of the jail, rather than segregation.
She was told guards entered his cell and found him dead that morning.
Case participated in a protest in Hamilton over jail overdoses this past weekend, and is now organizing a Niagara rally.
The protest is planned for Sunday April 7th at 2pm at the Thorold jail.
Case says the Ministry needs to do something saying the Niagara Detention Centre is overcrowded with 260 inmates, in a facility built for only 125.
