Boys and Girls Clubs across Canada will be armed with naloxone to help fight the opioid crisis.
The organization has teamed up with Adapt Pharma Canada, which makes Narcan, or naloxone hydrochloride which helps reverse drug overdoses.
The nasal spray will be available at 700 Boys and Girls Clubs locations across the country including in Niagara.
Program Manager at NightLight Youth Services, Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Justin Braet tells CKTB the program will include training on how to administer the drug.
He says it is similar to an Epi-pen, as it can buy time for emergency officials to arrive and hopefully help save lives.
He say the local group will be putting in an order to supply its programs in Niagara with naloxone.
The Boys and Girls Club in Niagara runs various programs including day camps, youth housing, teen outreach, and daycare.
