Two drivers have been arrested following a long weekend RIDE check in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.
The checkpoints, which took place late Friday night and early Saturday morning coincide with National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, part of "Canada Road Safety Week".
During this time, police forces across the country are encouraged to participate in coordinated enforcement to bring more attention to the issue of drunk driving.
Between the two cities, officers stopped aprroximately 450 drivers, five of whom were required to provide breath samples.
Of those five, two were arrested after their samples registered a "Fail".
Both drivers received an immediate 90-day license suspension and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.
Police also issued a three-day license suspension, and ten tickets for various traffic offenses.
