It's closing day at the Fort Erie Racetrack, bringing an end to the track's 120th season.
Today is also Fan Appreciation Day with free pocket programs and lucky draw prizes between races.
Fort Erie hosted 40 race days this season.
Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath toured the track, and says she was thrilled to take part in the last day of racing for the 2017 season.
She says unlike the Liberals, the NDP want to see horse racing survive and thrive in Niagara.
She points out that the slots have been pulled out of the Fort Erie track and not returned yet.
She says the Woodbine policy is also a 'nail in the coffin' for Niagara, and she wants rural communities like Fort Erie to continue to be successful.
Local politicians and Horwath have been calling for Woodbine to loosen their rules that limit the amount of racing thoroughbred horses can race outside of the GTA facility.
Horwath says the NDP wants to see fair horse practices across Ontario.
