Canada and nearly 200 other nations have reached a deal to limit the use of greenhouse gases far more powerful than carbon dioxide in a major effort to fight climate change.
The all-night talks in Kigali, Rwanda dealt with hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, which are used in air conditioners and refrigerators.
HFCs are described as the world's fastest-growing climate pollutant.
Environment Minister Catherine McKenna calls the deal "incredible news'' and is tweeting her praise of Canada's negotiating team.
