Just a reminder, a new careless driving charge with tougher penalties is in effect across the province.
The new charge which went into effect on Saturday, means drivers can now be convicted of careless driving causing bodily harm or death.
If convicted, a driver could be fined between $2,000 and $50,000, six demerit points, a licence suspension of up to five years and the possibility of two years behind bars.
Penalties have also increased for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians at crossovers, school crossings and cross walks.
The maximum fine increases to $1,000 with four demerit points.
