A new group has emerged calling on the government to provide additional support for their employees.
The Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses includes representatives from the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, the national Hotel Association, Indigenous Tourism Association and Festivals and Major Events Canada.
The group points out the the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy program has been a critical lifeline for these industries and the more than two million Canadians they employ.
And they note the planned phase-out of CEWS beginning this month aligns with a seasonal drop in revenues for all these sectors.
In response, the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses will launch a new campaign today to mobilize the public and call on the government to extend support programs and protect jobs.
