It's a little easier now to cross the street at the intersection of Clarence Street and Catherine Street.
Residents will be able to get to stores, restaurants and parking on either side of the busy roadway safely.
Marilyn Corey, a Port Colborne resident, initially approached council with the request for the crossover and was one of the first users when it became operational.
Mayor Bill Steele says this is a great example of council and staff meeting residents' needs.
A pedestrian crossover is a specific type of crossing that requires vehicles to stop and allow pedestrians to cross the road.
There are also illuminated overhead lights, warning signs, and pedestrian push buttons.
