The Niagara Falls, New York Water Board continues to operate in damage control mode after it came under fire for the release of sewage into the Niagara River.
The smelly discharge turned the water black late last month from the Maid of the Mist boat dock to the Rainbow Bridge.
The board announcing yesterday it has hired Los Angeles based engineering firm AECOM, to determine what happened and how to prevent future problems.
The water board first claimed it was part of routine maintenance at its water treatment plant, but days later, under fire from politicians on both sides of the border, it then issued a statement claiming the discharge was the result of human error on the part of a worker.
