A picture posted on a Welland man's Facebook page getting a lot of attention.
Rob Bottenfield posted a picture he took of a man lying in the dirt outside Welland General Hospital's emergency department.
On the post Bottenfield says he reported it to security and was informed they were aware of it.
He adds they still left the poor man out there.
In an email to Post Media, the NHS director of patient care Debbie Smith explains the man arrived by ambulance Tuesday afternoon but chose to stay outside and wait to see a doctor despite being encouraged to wait inside.
She says the patient was checked on a regular basis was eventually treated and released several hours later and was offered help with transportation home.
