A Tonawanda man praising a member of the Niagara Health System team who returned his grandmother's lost rings, almost 30 years after she passed away in hospital in Fort Erie.
In a release the NHS says Patient Registration Manager Karen Pietrangelo discovered two rings belonging to Violet Wilson in an old archive area at Douglas Memorial.
The rings were in an envelope that included the patient's information and a family contact number.
Working with the health records clerk, Pietrangelo checked the phone number online and discovered it still belonged to Violet's grandson living in Tonawanda.
Vaughn Wilson says he was shocked to get the call, adding it was very humbling and meant alot to him.
Pietrangelo says she told Vaughn perhaps his grandmother was waiting to make sure the rings go to the right person at the right time.
