The Niagara Catholic District School Board has released its plans if there is a teacher walkout next week.
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), which represents Catholic elementary and secondary teachers across Ontario, including Niagara Catholic, announced a one-day, provincial walkout on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
The board says ‘for the health and safety of our students, all Niagara Catholic elementary, secondary, continuing education schools and all alternative education programs schools will be closed to students on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.’
Parents/guardians are advised to make alternative plans for the care of children on Tuesday, February 4.
All schools will reopen to students on Wednesday, February 5.
For Tuesday, February 4:
All schools will be closed to students
Non-striking staff will report to work as usual
Parents/guardians will not be required to call in absences
Niagara Student Transportation Services (NSTS) bus transportation will be cancelled
All athletic, co-instructional, cooperative education and dual credit placements will be cancelled
All Continuing Education credit classes will be cancelled. Non-credit programs will continue
EarlyOn Centres will be open
Families currently receiving child care services in our schools are asked to contact your current provider
Catholic School Council Meetings and school events will be rescheduled as determined by the school Principal
