Teachers at Niagara College, along with faculty from 23 other Ontario colleges, will be out walking the picket line this morning.
The move comes after the College Employer Council rejected the union's latest offer yesterday.
In a release, OPSEU bargaining team chair, JP Hornick says the council is committed to a “Walmart model of education” based on reducing the role of full-time faculty and exploiting underpaid contract workers who have no job security beyond one semester.
OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas is "encouraging the colleges to get back to the table so we can wrap this up swiftly, for the good of students and faculty alike."
The Employer Council contends the demands made by the union would increase costs by a billion dollars over three years.
