A Niagara Regional Police officer who lives in Stoney Creek is facing three charges as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
25 year old Constable Mark Taks has been charged with three counts of breach of recognizance.
Taks was charged last October with drug possession and trafficking following an investigation into the illegal sale of steriods and other narcotics, including cocaine, prescription drugs and pot.
In a release, Chief Bryan MacCulloch says " Transparency and maintaining public trust are vital to the Niagara Regional Police Service. When that trust is threatened, we are all affected. It is unacceptable when one of our own members is in anyway in violation of this."
Taks, who has worked for the NRP for two years, remains suspended with pay in accordance with the Police Act of Ontario.
