It is freezing cold today, so cold that it will go down in the history books in many areas, but not in Niagara.
Peter Kimball is with Environment Canada and says Hamilton hit a new record at minus 14.9, beating the previous recent weather record of minus 11.8 in the year 2000.
Kimball says the coldest day on record in Hamilton was in 1880 when it dipped down to minus 17.
In Niagara we came very close to breaking records, but we are still experiencing a deep freeze.
The temperature dropped to minus 7 this afternoon, and the record for November 22nd is minus 8.3 in 1987.
Kimball says the good news is that the temperature will actually rise overnight and we are looking forward to a warmer Friday and weekend.
