Niagara's public elementary teachers are taking part in another rotating strike today following yesterday's province-wide job action.
All DSBN elementary schools are closed due to the strike.
Local teachers won't just be walking the picket line today - they'll also be hosting a charity barbeque to support the Lincoln County Humane Society at the LCHS's offices in St. Catharines.
Local union President Jada Nicklefork says that idea was met with some resistance from some members of the public.
"We did have some people in the public call the Health Department to try and get us shut down. But the Real Canadian Superstore on Fourth Avenue has come to our rescue and they said they're going to help us as much as they can because they have lots of experience running these barbeques, so they're going to help us to pass that health inspection."
Nicklefork says some of the people who called to complain said the teachers, "shouldn't be barbecuing and raising funds for the Humane Society. We should be back in schools."
The barbeque will be happening from 11 this morning until 2 this afternoon.
