Niagara Falls is hoping this is the last year they need to pitch in $300,000 for the city's tourism marketing campaign.
Mayor Jim Diodati telling CKTB's Tom McConnell the funds will be used to create a destination marketing campaign to attract people to the city.
Diodati say the money will come from the casino-hosting reserve fund and financial contributions from other levels of government will also be added to the pot.
He says this may be the last year that the city will pay for the campaign, and that hopefully next year industry will take over the funding if the city is successful with implementing a hotel tax.
Diodati says the proposed hotel tax is still in the works and city officials are working with industry partners to find a way to fund tourism marketing so residents aren't footing that bill.
Diodati says he thinks the tax will move forward.
Over 14 million people visited Niagara Falls last year, a number not seen since 2002.
