Niagara Falls is joining the ranks of communities banning single use plastic straws and stir sticks.
Following a presentation from the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee last night, Councillor Carolynn Ioannoni made the motion to ban the single use plastics from city run events and facilities.
It unanimously passed.
Council is also recommending Niagara Regional Council join the ban as well.
Earlier this year, the City of St. Catharines also banned the use of straws at city properties.
