Niagara Falls council will be considering putting aside $50,000 to help homeowners deal with the rat problem.
The rodents have become frequent unwanted visitors in many areas of the city, with the Works Department receiving at least 14 calls about the vermin last month alone.
At tomorrow's meeting, council will discuss a rebate program that would cover 50% of the cost for an extermination company to bait a resident's yard.
The program would have a cap of $200 and would only apply to baiting outside - the Region's Public Health department deals with reports of rats found inside homes.
