It was an expensive month for property owners in Niagara Falls when it comes to fire code violations.
Thorstone Properties Limited pled guilty and was fined $2,000 for failing to comply with an inspection order.
A company which owned and operated the Broadway Motel on Brookfield Avenue was found guilty of 19 violations of the Fire Code. The company was fined $12,000 for 7 of those charges and the remaining 12 were given a suspended sentence. The motel was demolished last year.
Another company owning and operating the Happiness Inn on Queen Street has also been fined $7,000 for various smoke and carbon monoxide alarm offences stemming from three different days.
Masroor Ali, the owner of a residential property on Morrison Street, plead guilty and was fined $2,500 for smoke and carbon monoxide alarm offences as well.
And an the owner of a property at 4238 Bridge Street was found guilty during a trial, resulting in the company being fined $3,000 and the company's director being fined $1,500 for failing to maintain a fire alarm system.
