Niagara Falls Fire Station Three will be getting an addition worth more than $500,000 dollars.
The station was originally built in the 1960s and since then the station has doubled with 4 firefighters taking on a 10 or 14 hour shift. During overlap, that number doubles to 8.
This new 1500 square foot addition will include a training room, a larger office, a new sitting room, a new universal washroom that can be used by female firefighters, as well as a new front entrance.
The total cost comes in around $542, 374 dollars including consulting fees, with $513,874 dollars awarded to Scott Construction Niagara Inc by Niagara Falls council.
The OLG reserve will handle $360,000 of the cost, with the remaining $182,375 coming from the capital/operating reserve.
