Niagara falls is joining several cities across the country trying to move rail lines out of town.
Mayor Jim Diodati tells CKTB he has been working on this issue for at least the past six years with CP and CN Rail.
CN owns the lines that run through Niagara Falls. It is a private company.
The mayor does not know yet what moving the lines would cost.
The city is also working with consultants including formor Toronto Metrolinx head Gary McNeil.
Diodati says that despite the expense that building around the tracks is an expense that doesn't make sense.
