A Niagara Falls man and boy are being hailed as heroes.
Niagara Falls council rose to their feet and loudly applauded as Mayor Jim Diodati recounted the events of July 2nd when 10 year old Keegan Harries dove into the swiftly moving waters of the Welland River to try and save a drowning man.
Before the youngster could reach the man, the boy's friend, 35 year old Cameron Gouck, waded in after him and took over the rescue effort.
Keegan told council that Gouck saved not only the drowning man, but Keegan's life as well.
The two were given a certificate of appreciation and a backpack full of goodies for their heroism.
