A Niagara Falls man is facing charges following a collision that caused a gas leak.
At approximately 10am this morning in the area of Lundy's Lane near Main street, a vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic, went over a curb, struck three local businesses and severed a gas main.
After the collision, the driver tried to flee the scene, hitting a flowerbed and a parked car.
He then tried to flee on foot, before returning to the scene of the collision where he was arrested by officers.
28 year old David Douglas Smith of Niagara Falls is facing impaired operation of a motor vehicle and breach of probation.
