Niagara Regional Police say a man is to appear in court today in St. Catharines facing charges in an alleged sexual assault.
Police say they were contacted about the incident -- which allegedly occurred in May -- in mid-July.
They say the alleged assault happened in an isolated area on the east side of the Welland Canal in Thorold.
A 27-year-old Niagara Falls man is charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault causing bodily harm, robbery and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
