More than 80 thousand people descended on Niagara Falls this past weekend and Mayor Jim Diodati admits the city was ill-prepared for the influx of visitors.
Traffic throughout the city was at a standstill for most of the day.
Diodati says the city along with community partners will be having discussions on how to better prepare for an increase in visitors for major events like Canada Day.
He also says the city will be taking a look at parking rates for municipal lots.
Diodati says many of the private lots were charging $20-to-$50 dollars for weekend parking, whereas city lots were charging a mere $12.
He says the city is missing out and would like to see a change to rates for major events in Niagara Falls.
