It appears the Mayor of Niagara Falls is not happy with the region's Medical Officer of Health following a recent media interview.
In a CBC article, Mayor Jim Diodati calls Dr. Mustafa Hirji 'very elusive' to get a hold of.
He is quoted in the article as saying:
"He's very evasive. It's very hard to get him." "It's very difficult to get him to commit. The only one he likes to talk to is the media."
The Mayor has come under fire for his relaxed approach to crowded situations on Clifton Hill.
The Mayor says the city has a successful ambassador program, which sees people talk to tourists about physically distancing, and gives out hand sanitizer.
The comments come following Hirji's statement last week that two recent cases have links to the Clifton Hill area in people in their 20's.
Diodati tells the CBC Hirji's comments are "speculation without investigation."
"To nail it to one specific street, to one specific area like that … it's reckless."
Niagara Public Health was clear that the two unrelated cases have links to the area, not that they contracted the virus in the tourist area.
