The NDP MPP for Niagara Falls continuing to press the Liberal Government to address the new stabling policy at Woodbine Racetrack that he says could hurt jobs in Fort Erie.
Wayne Gates upset over the policy that will stop horses stabled at Woodbine from racing on other tracks more than once a season.
Gates standing up in the legislature yesterday saying the stabling policy will put Fort Erie out of business and result in the loss of about a thousand jobs.
The Premier promising to look into scheduling a meeting with the minister responsible for horse racing, Jeff Leal, Finance Minister Charles Sousa, Fort Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop, Fort Erie Racetrack CEO Jim Thibert and herself.
Kathleen Wynne also noting she made sure in the past there was a strategy to allow small racetracks to survive and she wants to continue with that.
