Now that the city of Niagara Falls, New York finally has a deal with Amtrak, the trains can start running to the new station across from the Whirpool Bridge.
The next step according to Mayor Paul Dyster is starting negotiations with federal officials on both sides of the border to move Canada Customs at the bridge to the U-S side.
Dyster tells the Buffalo News, that would allow travellers to check in like they do at an airport and be cleared to ride into Canada.
The mayor says he would also love to see Go Train Service expanded to his side of the border.
Dyster believes the station is the key to eventually seeing regular train service between New York City and Toronto.
