A Niagara Falls ophthalmologist has lost his appeal after the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario ordered his medical license be revoked.
Doctor Andrew Taylor, owner of Lasik Provision, was billing for a more expensive laser eye surgery procedure while actually performing a cheaper version.
The CPSO writes "Dr. Taylor first performed the Zyoptix procedure at the clinic in the summer of 2002. From the summer of 2002 until May 2003 (the 'material time'), over 120 patients were billed for the Zyoptix procedure when in fact they had received the less expensive Planoscan procedure. The clinic issued refund cheques to 133 patients in 2003."
Last year Taylor attempted to appeal the decision and was allowed to continue practicing while the appeal was underway.
In September the Division Court dismissed Taylor's appeal and his licence has now been revoked.
