A packed house at the Gale Centre last night, as Niagara Falls residents voiced their concerns over a proposed development at the site of provincially significant wetlands.
Representatives for the developer behind the Thundering Waters project, also known as Riverfront Community, gave residents a chance to look through the plans and ask questions.
Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources member Owen Bjorgan says several people questioned a recent order given to GR Investment for unauthorized removal of vegetation.
He says they wanted to bring the issue into the spotlight in a bigger way.
Bjorgan adds "this investor has shown very little regard to protecting wetlands here in Niagara and in Canada."
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority issued the notice of violation last week after a resident complained about the unauthorized removal of the vegetation.
NPCA officials say an investigation is underway and may lead to formal charges.
