It's three months jail time for a former Niagara Falls high school teacher who pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual exploitation.
Michael Molnar's name will also be on the National Sex Offender Registry for the next 10 years after his conviction for fondling a teenage student.
Court was told police began their investigation at A.N. Myer Secondary School in December 2015 after the principal learned about an inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher.
The investigation revealed a 17-year-old student in Molnar’s class had gone to him for assistance because she was worried she was falling behind.
Molnar offered to help get her caught up with her lessons but the mentoring relationship quickly evolved into something else.
The Pelham resident was arrested in March 2016 and charged with several offences involving the Myer student.
He was also faced additional sex-related charges involving a female student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in St. Catharines, where he taught from 2009 to 2013.
The charges relating to the investigation at Sir Winston were withdrawn on Monday.
Molnar was suspended with pay by the District School Board of Niagara on Dec. 18, 2015.
He was terminated May 24, 2016.
