Expect a surge at the pumps as Hurricane Harvey pummels Texas.
Millions of people living in the path of the storm have been told to evacuate as warm waters from the Gulf of Mexico continue to feed the life threatening hurricane.
Many oil refineries are also being threatened and that means bad news at the gas station according to Senior Petroleum Analyst for GasBuddy.com Dan McTeague.
"A number of refineries may be out for several days and it's not just a small area - it happens to be home to almost half of the US gasoline production. So it's a fairly significant event. If it's anything like Hurricane Ike in September of 2008 when I had the luxury of predicting a 12 cents a litre increase in one fell swoop in September of that year - I'm not sure we'll see that but brace for higher prices come midweek next week, perhaps pushing us up well into the $1.18 - $1.19 range if the flooding continues in the wake of that storm."
McTeague does not believe there will be any further significant jump over the weekend in Niagara.
