On World Hepatitis Day, Niagara Health is reminding residents Niagara's rate of Hepatitis C is higher than the provincial average.
Today Niagara Health will be hosting a health fair in Montebello Park in St. Catharines from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. to talk to people about the virus and liver health.
Registered Nurses will offer private Hepatitis C testing to those who are interested, and the Screen For Life Coach and Mobile Dental Services teams will also be on site.
Representatives for over 60 community health and social services will be taking part in this afternoon's health fair at the park which also includes a free barbeque.
Hepatitis C is spread through the blood and attacks the liver.
If left untreated it can result in cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer.
