Niagara Health is getting ready to welcome visitors back to the long-term care facility at the Welland site.
Executive Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive Derek McNally says starting tomorrow visitors will be allowed in 15 to 30 minute slots seven days week.
"We'll be allowing each resident one visit per week at the beginning just to ensure safety and allow that every resident gets to see a loved one."
The visit will take place in a designated outdoor area at the front entrance of the ECU.
Only one visitor will be allowed at a time and the designated area will be cleaned between every visit.
Visitors are asked to arrive five minutes ahead of time and wait in their vehicles until a staff member invites them over.
Visitors will also need to prove they have tested negative for COVID-19 in the previous two weeks, provide their own mask or face covering, and pass a screening questionnaire.
Starting tomorrow, retirement homes can resume indoor and outdoor visits in designated areas when physical distancing can still be maintained.
Other care settings can allow outdoor visits of up to two people at a time.
